Eventful Events

So this weekend I had a big event! It was as frustrating as it was exciting but ultimately I am glad to have the experience under my belt. Whew. I know exactly what to do ahead of time NEXT time around thats for sure! :) I can't post any images just yet but there will be a sneak peek soon!

Also I am so S.u.p.e.r thankful for having such amazingly resourceful people within reach. My friend Kristy really was a life saver in so many ways. I can never repay her for all she has done for me! :-D check her out at http://krysteekphoto.com

Prices

So I have the cards and I'm working on a new website.

The whole reason I started to do photography as a more than a hobby was because it shouldn't cost so much to have nice pictures. When Gavin was born I had a local professional do our pics. They turned out ok but he was 3 months old before we got our 11 proofs and dvd. I had wanted to use the pics as a birth announcement...needless to say that did not happen. I paid $100 to wait 3 months on 11 4x5s and a dvd that I couldn't rip the pictures from. There were more pics but i really just refused to pay more than the required $100 minimum.

I have a $25 session fee. That pays me for my time basically..which for you is an hour or 2 generally speaking.

After that I spend some time editing each picture taken. From there I post them to my web gallery where you and whomever you share your password with can view them. ((the password is optional and at no additional cost but not everyone chooses it)) Once you have had time to look over everything you choose what you want to purchase and in what size.

Never will I ever do a walmartish package where you have a million and one of the SAME pose! There is no minimum purchase, you buy what you love, but trust me you will love pretty much all of your images ;)

Individual pictures prices are subject to change but I will say my images are priced about $5 less than area photographers.

Boxes

As much as I Love LoVe LOVE capturing memories in the children my true intent is to create art; to take something "out of the box" and make it look beautiful in a way that isn't always obvious. I just don't want to be that person that can only do one kind of shot.
If you want more than a run of the mill photo shoot, I'm the photographer for you!((lol)) I want to encourage every one in every kind of shot though, to get their mind on art and not a picture. Any one can take a picture, it's point and click. A photographer can only give as much as he/she gets. If you walk in and put on your fake smile, your images are going to reflect that. Be open and willing to take direction from your photographer and have fun! You could even come with ideas and a vision all your own...just don't forget to let those ideas known so we are all on the same page.

What's in YOUR "box"? :)

Baby Baby

Make no mistake about why these babies are here - they are here to replace us.
Jerry Seinfeld

I love photographing children and babies! Lately I have done lots of big people ( I like that very much too!) and photographing this little cutie took me back to my beginning.

Babies are definitely a force to be reckoned with! She was a real trooper, she let mom change her clothes a couple times, she let me hold her in between takes and she only cried at the very end. Even that we can't blame on her, there was a cold, oversized tea cup involved :)

Props to props

This past week has been a lot of fun. These 2 cuties provided energy and entertainment! I have never been a huge fan of props, I am afraid of "loosing" the real subject of the photo. These shoot were tons of fun. We used face paint, hats dress-ups and whole box of other fun things. The kids loved it, I loved it and I certainly hope that anyone who views it enjoys as well.

I am super excited to open my own horizons and get more creative with my work. I want to make people happy, I want my work to be in people's homes and special part of their lives. Wish me luck!

Thank Goodness for Crafty Friends!

Today I am super thankful for my friend Emily! She is my crafty superhero! I have been absolutely dying to make several things to use as photo props, but not only do I not have the time to do so....I also lack the know how. What I DO know how to do is pick up the phone and call on Emily! haha

Today we spent 2 hours making this tutu together. It was not terribly difficult just a lot of fine details and TONS of cutting. I am not a fan of tule by the way, its very cute but terribly static loaded and a major pain to cut. I will say that I am pleased with the outcome and Korah was double excited to be the first (well, second really, Evelyn had the first try..shhh) to give it a twirl or two! My next crafty adventure. . . a pettiskirt. Crazy I know but as long as I have such smart friends and family to help me along the way, why not?

Also incase you hadn't figured already the pictures are of my little boy (since I left him out last time) and of the infamous tutu.
